As charming as it is heart-wrenching...I’ve never quite seen anyone manage to move an audience so easily and seamlessly through such a range of emotions.
— Narelle Wood, Theatre Press
[A] fearless and commanding performance...a rom-com musical and autobiography packed into one 60 minute tour de force. Melissa [David] delivers a deeply personal performance...[that] compels us to examine how we come to terms with our reality, discover what we value most in life, make the tough decisions, and live life to the fullest no matter how uncertain our future may be.
— Lillian Nejad, Weekend Notes
This is a truly heartfelt cabaret, where David bears her soul through song [and] exposes her pain, her humour, her challenges and her essence as a performer...Melbourne has gained a rising star of cabaret and musical theatre...Sorry to those who are proud of her from her native New York, we’re keeping her.
— Ellen Burgin, TheatrePeople

Melissa David grew up the daughter of hippies in San Francisco and was pursuing a career as an actress in New York City when she met an Australian in London. Their coupling seemed like the stuff of dreams - complete with a wedding in Central Park - until her husband found himself unable to re-enter the USA during Trump's immigration fiasco, forcing her to choose between love and career. Their story will appeal to the romantic in all of us, as well as those who know what it’s like to experience the highs and lows of doing whatever it takes to be with the one you love.

Accompanied by acclaimed drag provocateur Peppy Smears, experience Melissa's journey through comedic insights and a stunning songbook of classics by Carole King, Whitney Houston, and Cher as she explores the sacrifices and rewards that come with following your heart.
